Donegal Oysters Ltd grows oysters on concessions covering 45ha in Donegal Bay. Total production is 300 tonnes p.a with 10 full-time employees. The company is owned by two brothers Conor and Damien Reid who have been growing oysters in the bay for 20 years.
The company concentrates on producing 'Speciale' quality only. Seed is sourced from the best hatcheries. Water qualtiy is prestine with the open Atlantic on one side mixing with the river Eske on the other. This river originates in the beautiful Bluestack mountains overlooking the whole bay. It is this natural combination which produces a full meat oyster with a unique taste of the untamed Atlantic.
The company is currentlly expanding on its main production site and will harvest over 400t each year from 2009 onwards.
